"mounting" weapons when using unique weapon skills

a little something I've been wondering about. I was playing Lepic and thankfully got a really good reactor: Tech and bonus againts colossus. It also has "Afterglow mounting" which I don't really mind, but my question is: If I use my "overkill" ability (ot any other Descendants with a unique weapon skill) while holding the Afterglow, will it still acount for the 160% optimization? Because from what I can understand, the 160% optimization only works when using the noted weapon on the reactors. So by holding another (unique) "weapon", does it still work?
