Old Parent Plus Loans turned to Double Consolidation Loophole, Now Direct Loans recertifying issue on StudentAid.gov

I processed the double consolidation loophole last July 2023 and at the same time, I applied for an IDR plan. Nelnet put me on REPAYE and then it was automatically turned into SAVE but my payments were high because I was filing as married.

I've now filed married filing separately which would put me at $0 payments, but when I head to studentaid.gov and process the "manage" change in income form, I get to step five which shows my only payment plan as as an ICR, showing SAVE and other IDR plans ineligible but I've already completed the process and have one Direct Consolidated Unsubsidized loan - Loan Code D5 - and I'm on the SAVE plan.

I've been on the phone with StudentAid.gov, they're trying to tell me I have a parent plus loan and that's why it won't let me, but I know for a fact I completed the double consolidation properly.

I've asked for a supervisor call back, but the advisor seems unaware about my loan type, but can see that I'm on the SAVE plan, but is unable to push it through due to the system saying my loans are parent plus. They told me they cannot advise me outside of what the website gives (the rep, not the supervisor)

I have had a huge decrease in income and need to recertify ASAP.

Has anyone else had this problem? Should I go directly to the ombudsman?

It seems wrong to tell borrowers "there's really nothing we can do"
