Phoenix, Boston or DC?

I’m a 25yo single female currently living in Charlottesville, VA. The contract for my job is ending in early July, and I’ve gotten offers from multiple cities. I’ve narrowed it down to Phoenix, Boston or DC.

Phoenix: $65k base salary, OT/raises/bonuses, 3 year contract. I know nobody here, but I loved the office, and I figure it could be an adventure. The heat, 3 year contract, and things I’ve heard about living here are making me hesitant. However, the salary is best for the COL here.

Boston: $70k, OT/raises/bonuses, 2 year contract. I know a few people in Boston and have a friend that would want to room with me.

DC: $68k, OT/raises/bonuses, likely a 2 year contract (haven’t gotten the official offer yet but I’m expecting it). I grew up in this area, would be able to live in NOVA with my family while I found a place, and I’ve got lots of friends here. I already know I love it here too, but don’t want to feel lame for sticking around in the same are while other people my age live all around the world.

I’m just trying to figure out what the right move for me would be here, and I’m stumped. I don’t think I can make a “wrong” decision. A bit about me: I’m pretty outdoorsy and love being in proximity to nature. Adaptable to weather but kind of sensitive to heat. I’m social-ish but not about going clubbing every weekend; still, I want a place where I can be a “young person” and have tons of options for doing things and making friends (Charlottesville is not great for that). I play guitar/sing and would love to start a band wherever I go.

And about the low salaries: I’m a news producer, so I don’t make much, but I’m very good at saving money and I’m totally okay with roommates. I’ve lived on a little over $30k in Charlottesville just fine for the past 2 years.

If you read all this, you’re a trooper. I appreciate any and all advice and can answer questions!
