Pairing problem

So everything was working fine. I turn the TV on and it asks me if I want to "pair the remote to the tv for a better experience." It asks me that everytime I turn the thing on. In the past I've hit ignore, and gone on. This time I thought I would pair it...just so it would stop bothering me about it. I follow the instructions, take the battery cover off the back of the remote, push the pairing button for five seconds. The green light starts blinking, but nothing else happens. I push the button again for five seconds, green light flashing, nothing. I've tried unplugging the TV, tried removing the batteries, nothing's working. Everytime I put the batteries back in the green light instantly starts to flash. Remote will turn the TV on and off, but will not do anything else.
