Advice wanted: complete home remodel

My father just died and has left the home in absolute disaster. My sister and frankly my whole family is at loss for what to do. It was a nice home. Its brick and in a good neighborhood. Its 1269 sq with an unfinished basement. I looked it up and it was built in 1962. The home has mold, bed bugs, roaches, and spiders. These are all throughout the home. There's also some of my father's belongings that will have to be trashed because of bed bugs. It was messy, but relatively empty. I would also guess the roof should be assessed based on what I could see of the breezeway rood between the home and the garage. Just by look alone I know the deck needs to be redone as well. Is there any saving this home? We figure if it is worth saving it will have to be a full gut and remodel. How do I even start with that if it is? We have talked about selling the home as is to a developer to let them just build a new home on the lot. Honestly, I think that might be the only solution. My husband and I are wanting to build or buy a home already and then this happened, but I want to make a smart decision here.
