Anyone else use Lemon Pledge on the axles?
My son is in his second year of scouts, 1st grade Tiger, so I wasn't going to go crazy with the car. No rail riding, no lifted wheel, just a wedge shape with one of those screw-on traingle weights with fins- it weighed in at 4.9oz. the only thing I was going to do extra was polish the axles and use graphite.
I wanted to see some recommendations for how much wiggle room to leave the wheels and I found this guys YouTube video where he said to put Lemon Pledge on the axles before the graphite and it gives it something to stick to, you spray it on then wipe it off leaving only a small bit of residue on it, so that's what I did (we only had Orange Pledge so I used that). We did not put a ton of effort into this car.
In a field of 52 cars he won every heat and came in 3rd overall moving on to the district race. I couldn't believe it.
I came in first in the adult wildcat race, basically same thing but with a bunch of extra weight.
