Why aren't other pets as popular

Why aren't other pets as popular as cats or dogs, like rabbits, or rats, or guinea pigs, also, many people just want companions as pets, and these are just as good if not better than dogs or cats

Edit: I'm not saying that any pet is "better" than any other pet, dogs and cats can be companions, but I'm saying that these are also good companions, and aren't nearly considered enough when people look for pets, than cats or dogs
