Should I introduce myself to my neighbors?

I'm moving into my new house in a couple of weeks. My childhood home was a single family house outside of town and that's where I lived until now so I never dealt with this

I recently got a place for myself in the city so of course it's a flat. The building is a small one, only 6 flats overall.

Should I go door to door to introduce myself as the new downstairs neighbor to the other people living in these flats? Should I expect them to pop up while I'm moving and renovating? Or just introduce myself if we run into each other in the elevator - what if months go by? It's gonna be awkward then
