If Atkinson Better than Thibs ?

Thibs has done a solid job with the Knicks, but would we be better off with Kenny Atkinson at the helm? Atkinson is known for his elite player development, strong X’s and O’s, and ability to get the most out of his roster—something Knicks fans have often wished for.

To be fair, the Knicks are currently one of the top offensive teams in the league in terms of production. But at times, there’s no real deceptiveness in the scheme, and it rarely feels like we’re outcoaching the other team. Atkinson, on the other hand, has a track record of creative sets and maximizing his personnel.

His head coaching record now stands at 163-200 (.449), including his tenure with the Brooklyn Nets from 2016 to 2020 and his current run with the Cavaliers, where he’s leading them to one of the top offenses in the league. This season alone, Cleveland has surged to a 45-10 record, frequently putting up 130+ points in games.

Would the Knicks be in a better position with Atkinson? Or does Thibs’ experience, defensive identity, and success with this group still make him the better fit? Curious to hear everyone’s thoughts.
