People are talking about all the angles of the Luka trade, but I haven't seen anyone talk about the Nike angle

Everyone is talking about the conspiracy theories with the Luka trade, but nobody is talking the Nike angle.

Now this is obviously full tinfoil hat, but with a trade like this where the entire world agrees it makes no sense, I think we may as well look at this. Nico Harrison was the Nike rep who blew the Steph Curry deal and the reason Steph is with Under Armor. He lost the most marketable player in the league allegedly because he mispronounced Stephen as “Steph-on”.

Now the two most marketable international players in the league are Luka and Jokić, but neither are on super marketable teams to overseas fans. Even still Luka has made a historically “less popular” team the 4th most popular in Europe according to ohbets.com. The Lakers are the most marketable NBA team historically. Now with Luka, they could possibly even pass the Warriors if they start winning.

The trade makes no sense from any basketball angle when you find out Niko never even shopped him around for the best deal. If it was truly to get “defense” why wouldn't you put the trade out there and get the best possible deal? If it was about injuries, why would you get a player whose nickname is “street clothes”? But it makes a lot more sense if Niko is using this to earn favor again with Nike or owes someone for losing Curry. Either that or the Adlesons realize the casino thing is not getting through any time soon after the most recent Texas legislation session and they want the team in Vegas.
