Marco - Did not understand the hype
I saw Marco with the notion that to be a fun watch and may not be perfect in terms of script. But it was thoroughly disappointing. I think the editing was very shoddy. I do not know if the Ott version had cut s but even cuts would not create empty sequences strung together. You cannot expect great nuance from archetypal Revenge stories, but even then there is certain tension that is built. There is a certain emotion that is created or rather evoked, this had nothing. The scenes between Marco and the slain brother had some charm. But I think they could not put it across well.
I can see this film doing well in Hindi because the kind of plastic characters they have, it's much better. Even the half-baked characters across these two warring families are better than most of Hindi cinemas' Cliche empty caricatures that we get these days.
I'm surprised something this half big did so well in Malayalam also. I was curious to see all the action scenes but I left the film halfway. I think A very mediocre film. I do not expect some classic I expected gratutius action sequences strung together with a okay enough story, but you have to convince the viewer of a certain emotion. You have to evoke it in them. I don't think it could do that. I hope the copycats which come from its success do it better.
I find unni mukundan to be a mediocre actor but then so are so many of his contemporaries. I was curious to see him in a good role but this was disappointing.
Additionally, I was reading about jagadish playing a villain. I was excited to watch him but I think, again an empty shell.
