Underboss betrayal

I just finished my old game and started a new playthrough and having alot of fun. If I get an underboss to turn on me, will they keep sending people to kill me? I like the idea of having enemies rolling up on me at any time kinda like the retaliation squads did. I read you don't have to kill the underboss if they turn on you so what happens then? If they send squads, how often? I want to control the city but would like some enemies. Any info appreciated, thanks
