M10R vs M11 if the price difference is $1200?!
Hey guys,
In my local used market the price difference between a M10R and a M11 is $1200.
I have enough cash for a M11 So it's really boiling down to preferences.
I personally don't really buy into the "the latest the greatest" idea in terms of specs, and I have read plenty about the specs difference between the M10R and M11.
The sensor difference is negligible to me, coming from 18MP files from the M9 and the Nikon scanner for my M6. I already like the DR of my M9 and its color science. So I don't really need ISO64 and its 1 stop better DR blah blah blah.
Specs aside, what are people's shooting experiences with both cameras?
I'm especially concerned about the M11's closing, opening, closing and opening shutter when a picture is taken. Two shutter actuations for each shots raises two concerns for me: 1. double the shutter wear and 2. I don't know when the shot's taken. The first actuation or the second? If latter, is the shutter delay noticable compared to other Ms?
I also like how the M9 brasses quite a lot and seems like only the silver M11 is made of brass while the M10R is made of brass regardless of its color. If you have a silver M11, does it brass? And how does it look? Does the golden brassed corners pair well with silver?
Does the black M11's 100g decreased weight really help? Seems like it's even lighter than the M6 and it seems crazy. Some people have mentioned that the lighter M11 feels like a toy when the previous Ms does not. But then again I'm not sure if I'll be too sensitive to weight since my M9 feels heavier to me than my M6 when it's the contrary. Maybe it's just the thickness of the body and the M10R/M11 will feel the same as the M6 since they have similar thickness.
Also, is one of the buttons customizable for ISO on both M10R and M11? M10 seems like it doesn't have any Fn button but it does have a dial. Is that dial stuck on exp.comp. or is that customizable? I would really, really like to go to ISO settings in one button click like the M9 without delving into the menu like your average mirrorless with 100 menu subcategories.
Is the battery really that much better on the M11? I used to carry 5 batteries with my M9 and I guess the less is better, but it could also be said that carrying around 5 batteries did give me a piece of mind. I've herd that the M10-R is a "battery hog", is it really that bad or were the comparisons people overstating it?
Thanks for reading my long rant!
