Why is nobody helping men ?
Kind of a random post but I can't count how many times I've heard the argument "Men need to be more open about their emotions, it's okay for men to ask for help, we need to change the stigma around it".
I've gone through some pretty tough situations and when I needed help, nobody was there. When I asked for help, people withdrew. I repeat : I asked for help but nobody cared.
All I needed is a bit of money and resources to increase my heath to then be functional again. Nobody cared. I have seen other men be treated in a similar manner. Nobody gives a shit about you or takes you seriously unless have a visible life threatening illness.
So, the lesson of the story is it's not about "men not asking for help because of social conditioning". It's about the realization that nobody cares.
Men want resources and actual help to better their lives. Not talk about their feelings 24/7. Those things are cool too but they can only be supplementary.
