Anyone been to Matsue

I'm planning a trip for March. I have three spare nights alone and am considering going to Matsue because I've wanted to visit the Lafcadio Hearn house. But I'm doing research and apart from the castle and maybe a day trip to Izumo. I'm not sure if there is enough to fill three nights, especially the night part.

Does anyone have experience with the city and is there enough to keep someone interested for three full nights and two full days?

I don't want to go all that way to look at a museum, a lake, a neighbourhood and a shrine and spend my nights alone in a businessman hotel watching awful Japanese TV at night eating kombini food.
