Buying a home in Italy
Hey guys,
I'm a Belgian dude with an interest in Italy, and have been checking out the real estate markets lately. I want to buy a home abroad (honestly, anything Mediterrenean is good), but the prices in Italy are pretty good - not to say really good given the other markets. Not to mention the culture and the weather. So the idea is to buy something in Italy in the coming 2-3 years.
However, given the sheer size of Italy, and the many YT videos on the topic (for which I have no idea whether or not it's trustworthy), I have no idea where to look or even to begin browsing for real estate.
I would like to check out a region with not that much tourism, a lot of culture, and decent prices. The idea would be to use it as a family home, and if I'm not there, use it as an Airbnb. I'm not really in it for the money or the appreciation of the assets, just a place to spend my days in the spring or fall.
Sicily seems really cheap. Is there any reason for this? Puglia seems doable as well.
Any suggestions, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.
