Fully Upgraded 5.5, What's Going On?
First, I've had a 5.5 for a few months now, and I'm totally loving the experience of having an original ipod. I replaced the battery and put in a new iflash and it's been a whole new way of experiencing my music (and old CD collection).
Since making all of the upgrades, my ipod freezes every 2 to 3 hours. It can be during a song, and I've also had it freeze just sitting on the main menu. The biggest concern is today I needed to open up the system and pull out the battery cable, then reset it in order for it to boot up.
Is there anything I can do to eliminate this freezing? Is this a sign of a larger problem?
Some thoughts based on other posts I've seen in here:
It doesn't seem to relate to file size. I have some lossless files and some mp3s, both types can cause a freeze. I've seen people say the lossless files can cause freezes.
My iFlash solo uses an approved SD card from the iflash website (SanDisk 64GB Extreme SDXC UHS-1), but I also see some people saying SanDisk SD cards are problematic. Could this be it?
The freezing most often happens when I USB connect my ipod to my car. When it's about to freeze, it won't display the album cover but it will play the song. After a little bit the progress bar that shows how far you are into the song stops moving, then at the end of the song the message "unsupported" pops up on my car screen and the ipod is frozen.
I've also seen that shaking in a car cause cause the ipod to freeze, but does that only apply to hard drives? Can SD drives experience the same thing?
Besides all of this, it could just be that this is a 15 year old piece of equipment and stuff like this is going to happen. But I don't know if it could be the logic board, that and the screen are the only original, major elements left besides cables.
Any insight you guys could provide, I'd be so grateful.
