The butterfly effect of zero leaks happening regarding GTA VI.
In an alternate world where the infamous 2022 leaks don’t happen on top of the kid whose dad works at Rockstar leak not happening, where would we be today?
The 2022 leaks were actually fucking insane, to where that was one of the biggest leaks in gaming as a whole. We learned so much about GTA VI, even things we would’ve never seen such as development tools and bug testing, stuff like that. But tons and tons of information got leaked on top of just footage and screenshots, etc…
The kid whose dad works at Rockstar leak isn’t as crazy, but still sorts big. We get to see a portion of the map and the kid goes on to give a few details about the game, such as how it’s 3x larger than GTA V’s map, there’s a big lake in the middle, and how 80% of buildings are accessible.
Considering how massive the first leak was, I genuinely wonder how much of a difference it would’ve made if it never happened. Because I do think Rockstar’s current motive (such as not releasing anything in 2024) is a means of saying “yeah we’re pisses about the leaks”.
Without the leaks though, that means we would’ve went a whole other year without seeing anything GTA VI related, unless Rockstar would’ve released something earlier if not for the leaks.
I recall people anticipating Vice City’s 20th anniversary in 2022, especially since that was the same year Ray Liotta unfortunately passed away. So what better way to reveal the next game set in Vice City, on that day? Which was conveniently a Tuesday. And on top of respecting a legendary actor who was the protagonist of Vice City (which I hope GTA VI has an Easter Egg both to Tommy and Ray Liotta to pay their respects).
But yeah… Rockstar would probably be less petty if not for the leaks and that hacker kid wouldn’t be in a mental institution for his life nor would the Rockstar kid have gotten a brutal beating and his dad fired.
Thoughts?
