Kid Who Escapes
Without getting into a million details, we have this incredibly smart girl who turned 2 in August.
The ONLY interest this girl has is doors basically.
She spends her whole day running out the classroom door or into that bathroom/toilet. When she’s totally blocked from both doors, she goes in the fridge to throw everything out.
But that’s it - and it goes nonstop for 10 hours minus nap. 5 days a week. My friend cant do anything with her class because the girl is one on one. She’s gotten completely out of the door and down the hallway maybe 40 times in the last few months. I go in to help and they are right. She is one-on-one and she is FAST. She doesn’t play with toys for more than a seconds if it’s new.
There is obviously something bigger going on with her, but she’s ‘smart’ in general. So it’s not obvious enough to convince the parents. First kid.
Running out of the room itself, should be a huge deal to the higher ups, right? The only suggestions this teacher gets is “classroom management “ classes etc. They will not even consider a child lock on the door handle. Which would be HUGE. She could finally try to have a class. But no.
Any suggestions? Similar stories?
