Should I get vip when I can afford it?

I am a non vip user who is almost at the runway diva ranking. I am proud that I can say I've gotten that far without farming or vip. There's a few items in vip I want so I was thinking about buying it when I get a job. However I've seen a lot of posts about how people have never seen a top model without vip so I think it would be cool to try to get to top model without vip. But then I wouldn't have access to the items I want. So what do you guys think?
