How Important is Keeping an MPR Win Streak?

So I'm in my first week, completed 5/6 chapters and maxed out the season so I bought the pass. Have been doing special events and everything else I have available to level up racers.

Right now I am down to grinding MPR for each individual character.

If I lose a race should I pay to keep the streak? I've declined once and paid once. Right now have a 38 win streak but I'm getting into characters that aren't upgraded at all.
