Crypto needs to move on from rent-seekers to users.

Nearly everyone in crypto has a rent-seeking mentality. Everyone thinks they are "early" and can earn passive income by being a validator or miner, i.e. producing nothing, adding zero value.

Problem is... What about the users? When will they come? We all thought crypto was inevitable, but with each cycle I see zero appreciable growth here, maybe even backwards. (For example, Steam dropped Bitcoin payments and never returned.)

It's because crypto sucks to use. They all have fees paint to rent-seekers, but users are smart enough to see through it. In its current form, crypto is not a more fair monetary system than fiat, it is only a different form and not worth the migration.

On a very basic level, why do we think crypto can compete with fiat, which can be transferred instantly and without fees? It can't. Until we break the cycle, we'll be chasing, getting burned on the next funny meme coin each cycle, ad nauseam.
