RANT!IDFC rejected my application for WOW secured CC texting me bank internal policy crap.

It feels like no one is really willing to help out a newbie in the Indian credit card scene. I’m not trying to act entitled—I get that no one owes me anything—but it’s frustrating when posts showcasing massive credit card collections get tons of upvotes, while requests for advice seem to get ignored. Maybe they should just rename the subreddit “Credit Card Collections.”

To make things worse, people who actually received help rarely return to offer guidance to others. And before anyone suggesting me to check post histories for similar concerns, trust me, I did—but I couldn’t find anything helpful.

I made a post yesterday seeking advice, but no one responded, and this is kind of urgent. I applied for a credit card yesterday, and they rejected me, which resulted in another hard inquiry on my credit report, thanks to IDFC.

I called them today, and all I got were the same boilerplate responses, like, “You’ll receive an offer.” Why would they offer me an unsecured credit card when even the banks I have existing relationships with (SBI and HDFC) rejected me due to “No CIBIL score or credit history”? That’s exactly why I’m trying to apply for an FD-backed secured card!🤷🏻‍♂️ And why would I care about getting an unsecured offer if I they can’t give me a secured one now when I’m in a dire need of it,but instead offer me when I don’t need that anymore?

This is beyond frustrating. IDFC advertises a 100% approval rate for FD-based credit cards on their website, yet they rejected me even after I offered the FD as collateral. How does that make sense? When I asked customer service about it, they just mentioned “Backend profiling,tf is that thing?” without giving any real explanation.

It’s so much easier in the US—look at the Discover it Secured Card, for example(Long time lurker there) No hoops, no hurdles to jump through.

I don’t even have a savings account or FD with IDFC, so I asked if I needed to open either before applying. Their customer care team told me that’s not how it works.I live in Tumakuru, which doesn’t have a physical IDFC branch yet (it's less than an hour from Bangalore), but when I asked if that was the reason for the rejection, they said no. My area is a serviceable pincode, after all.🤦🏻‍♂️

Thanks for reading till the end,RANT OVER.

Anyone in the same boat, I’d really appreciate your advice. Thanks in advance!
