Can we get a tips and tricks thread going?

Most people could play this game like civ 6 for a long time and still not catch on to all the optimal things. What are some tips and tricks you discovered in the first couple days of this game?

Seems obvious now, but you can travel armies much faster across land when they are packed into a commander.
