What’s your take on Heavenly Rewards?

Hello, I grew up in Christianity and still follow a lot of it but my philosophies have changed over the last few years. However I still have several Christians in my life and I learned something when I spoke with one of them today. I didn’t realize how much Christians can differ on what heaven will be. Growing up I had learned/understood that heaven is a perfect eternity in the light of God’s Grace and love and I didn’t think too much beyond that. I just trusted that my human mind can’t really comprehend it and that it would be awesome. But when I spoke with another Christian woman today, she was speaking a lot about heavenly rewards. She noted that God talks about heavenly rewards in the Bible (true, Matthew 5:11-12, and other passages) and that, the more we live according to the Bible, the more heavenly rewards, we will receive. This was an entirely new concept to me, but is this a common belief? That some will receive more heavenly rewards than others? I got stuck on this because she used this philosophy to justify her treatment towards others but now I’m doing a lot of philosophical backflips. I thought we were called to live like Christ because doing so would distribute love and were called to love one another. But it really sounded like she believes she’s called to live like Christ because it means she’ll have a better heaven later. I understand that the philosophical answer to the philosophical question is likely “yes and no” or “it’s both and more”, so I mainly asking… what’s your personal take on heavenly rewards?
