How do you avoid missing things in NG+

Just started NG+ and realised that the map is still there and so there are no more clouded areas. How do you avoid missing things that you only saw the first time because you were curious about exploring clouded areas

And whilst we’re on the subject, what exactly are the markers supposed to be for?
