Paint touch up as a complete beginner.

I’m debating on detailing my semi recently purchased vehicle. I noticed a scratch spanning almost the whole drivers side on the date of purchase, and while working on it recently I noticed some scratches on the rear fender as well as a paint crack on the rear fender, the majority of the scratches are just clear coat scratches as far as I can tell there is a few spots where my nail catches. As far as I understand those are too deep to effectively polish them out would I have to use a touch up pen and clear coat then polish over them? If necessary I would be willing to bring it to a auto body shop but I’d like to know if it’s something that a complete beginner would be able to do after practicing on a few odd body panels
