Are £700/month energy bills for a sole occupancy flat reasonable and normal here?
Hi AskUK - I recently moved into a new flat in October, it’s 2 BR 2 bath but I live alone. I signed up with Octopus energy and have been paying £50 a month to start. Just got my first quarterly “actual usage” bill and it is £1900?! So nearly £700 a month?
Can this be real??? For context, I live alone and work from home 2 days per week, in office for the other 3. My energy usage is pretty normal - I do keep the place heated at all times (even while out during the day) as I find it very chilly and slow to warm up otherwise when I come home. Otherwise just lights on in the evening, running the washer a couple times a week, normal stuff.
My heating is electric which I know is expensive but even still?? This feels like it can’t be accurate and there might be something wrong with my meter?
Any help or guidance would be super appreciated to someone who recently moved here.
