Does anybody have tips for improving astrophotographs?

Im specifically looking for technical tips. Like the best exposure times for a camera or anything I can change. I live in a light polluted area but it’s that bad. I just want to picture stars nothing fancy. Does anybody have some tips for improvement I can make to the exposure time, camera mode, upgrades to my camera (it’s a canon dc 8.1v btw), or etc for better star pictures
