Question on Stitches
Background: Perianal abscess drained 12/23. Formed a horseshoe from right to left around rectum with largest infection on the right side.
I guess I healed too quickly and trapped some internal infection inside and went in this past Friday for a fistula repair. Turns out, not a fistula. The only fistula in a sense was the connection from the right abscess to the left. They decided to cut open a 4 inch incision, right under the rectum, and clean both cavities and connection by debriding and cauterizing. They placed 2 sets of internal stitches and 1 external to close it all up.
My question. Has anyone had stitches here before? On day 4, and half inch of the middle opened up. I called my CRS and was told stitches in this area rarely hold and I have 2 sets of internal that should be holding. Anyone have similar experience? What does healing look like with this? Right now I can barely sit for more than 10 to 15 minutes.
Appreciate the input!
